Great lip work starts with proportion: how your upper and lower lip relate, the shape of your border and how your lips sit with your nose and chin. Depending on your goal, that might mean a soft hyaluronic acid filler for shape, a light hydrating treatment for smoothness and fine lines, or a lip flip with a few units of neurotoxin.
Sangini and nurse injector Brenda Torres, BSN, RN, both perform lip treatments at LIV, building gradually and checking symmetry from every angle. What to expect
- 01
Consultation
We look at your lips at rest and when you smile, and agree on shape, balance and how much change you want.
- 02
Numbing
Numbing cream is applied, and most lip fillers also contain lidocaine for comfort.
- 03
Treatment
Filler is placed in small amounts with symmetry checked throughout. A lip flip takes just a few minutes.
- 04
Settling
Lips swell for a few days and settle by about two weeks, when we can refine if needed.
Downtime
Lips are often swollen for a few days and bruising is possible, so book filler at least two weeks before an event.
Results
Filler shows right away and typically lasts around six to twelve months in the lips, while a lip flip typically lasts a few months.

What is a lip flip?
A lip flip uses a few units of neurotoxin to relax the muscle around the mouth so the upper lip rolls out slightly. It is a subtle, off-label use and does not add volume.
Will my lips look overfilled?
Not with our approach. We build gradually, put shape ahead of size and would rather add more at a follow-up.
Can you fix lip filler from another injector?
Often, yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved, and lips can be rebuilt once they have settled. We assess this at your consultation.
How much does lip filler cost in Chicago?
It depends on the product and how much your plan needs, and we price it at consultation. The $150 consultation fee for new consultations is fully credited toward services booked.
