Moxi by Sciton is a non-ablative fractional laser. It treats thousands of tiny zones in the upper layers of the skin while leaving the skin between them intact, which helps you heal quickly. Your skin clears away damaged cells and builds fresh ones, along with new collagen.
Moxi is about skin quality, not deep wrinkles or significant laxity. Sangini will tell you whether it is the right tool or whether Sofwave, Morpheus8 or IPL would serve you better, and Maria Sanchez, MA, brings her laser experience to your sessions. Moxi by Sciton is our newest laser. It is a non-ablative fractional laser, which means it creates thousands of tiny treatment zones beneath the surface without removing the outer layer of skin. Your skin repairs those zones with fresh, healthy cells and new collagen.

Moxi is gentle enough for all skin types, including deeper skin tones, and works on the face, neck, chest, hands and arms. Because it is so gentle, it can be done year round, not just in winter. Most patients feel warmth and light prickling, look like they have a mild sunburn for a day or two, then notice rough, dry skin that flakes away by about day five to seven to reveal brighter skin.

What to expect

Consultation
Sangini checks your skin and goals. You may be asked to pause retinoids for a few days and avoid tanning beforehand.

Numbing
A topical numbing cream keeps you comfortable before the laser starts.

Treatment
The laser takes about 10 to 15 minutes in a few passes. Most people feel warmth and light prickling.

Recovery
Skin looks pink for a day or two, then feels rough as tiny dots rise and flake away by about day five to seven. Wear SPF every day.
Downtime
Little to none: a day or two of pinkness, then a few days of rough, dry skin, and most people return to work the same day or the next.
Results
Many patients see brighter skin after one session, with results typically building across a series of two to four and maintained every few months.

Can I have Moxi during a Chicago summer?
Yes. Unlike many pigment treatments, Moxi can be done year round. Avoid tanning beforehand and wear SPF daily afterward.
When can I wear makeup after Moxi?
We recommend waiting about 24 hours. After that, gentle products are fine while your skin flakes.
